Homeless man sentenced to 3 1/2 years in prison
WOODSTOCK – A homeless man has been sentenced to 3 1/2 years in prison after being accused of choking and punching his girlfriend, whom he wouldn't let leave the tent they had been sharing.
Edward M. Lewandowski, 49, pleaded guilty on Monday to unlawful restraint, a Class 4 felony, for the May incident.
According to the McHenry County Sheriff's Office, Lewandowski detained the woman in a blue and orange tent pitched in an unincorporated, wooded area west of Rose Farm Road near Woodstock.
