Mayor tells parents of slain teen about arrests
CHICAGO (AP) — Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel says he's talked to the parents of the 15-year-old girl who was shot to death last month to tell them about the two young men who were taken into custody over the weekend.
At a news conference Monday, Emanuel said the call was one of several he's made to relatives of Hadiya (hy-DEE'-uh) Pendleton, adding that most of the other calls were made simply to comfort them.
At the same news conference, Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy said he expected murder charges to be filed later Monday against the two men who were arrested Sunday morning.
