Three townships begin early voting

Early voting began Monday in three McHenry County townships.

Grafton, Nunda and Algonquin townships all began early voting for the Consolidated Republican Primary Election. Early voting will take place until Saturday, Feb. 23.

The election will be held on Feb. 26.

Grafton will elect a township supervisor, clerk, assessor, highway commissioner and trustees. Nunda will elect a supervisor, clerk and highway commissioner. A supervisor, clerk and trustees will be voted on in Algonquin.

Illinois state law requires registered voters to show valid photo identification before voting early.

The deadline to register to vote in the February Consolidated Primary Election was Jan. 29.

McHenry County Clerk Katherine Schultz said the turnout Monday was “pretty light,” and she expects the election turnout as a whole to be fairly light.
