Singers of United Lands to perform at MCC

Text Size: AaAaAaAaAa

CRYSTAL LAKE – The McHenry County College Music Department will host Singers of United Lands 2013, featuring a singing quartet from four countries during two one-hour workshop/performances at 11:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. Feb. 19 in the Luecht Conference Center at McHenry County College, 8900 Route 14.

This year’s singers hail from Russia, Ireland, Philippines and Guatemala. They will perform and teach songs from their native culture during the two 60-minute presentations. The performers are on a six-month tour throughout the U.S.

According to MCC music instructor Steven Szalaj, this is the sixth year that he invited S.O.U.L. to perform at the college.

“This group is enlightening because of the diversity of the performers who share authentic music and culture from each of their countries,” Szalaj said.

The concerts are free and open to the public.

For information including audio and video samples, visit www.singersofunitedlands.org or contact Steven Szalaj at sszalaj@mchenry.edu or Michael Hillstrom at 815-479-7814.
