The overdue paper notice will be replaced by an email or phone notification effective March 18 at the Algonquin Area Public Library District.
By using the library’s automated phone notification system to contact cardholders when they have items overdue will result in cost savings to the community and provide library users with a much more timely notice, according to a news release from the library district.
Notice messages will not contain any item information; they simply will inform cardholders that they have overdue material. Those receiving email notifications will see no change. Cardholders who do not wish to receive phone notices must provide an email address.
