New Fox Lake rules may be way to control video gambling
FOX LAKE – The Fox Lake Village Board on Tuesday approved definitions of bars and restaurants where there were none before and may be able to use them to limit the businesses that can install video gaming machines.
Under state law, if a municipality authorizes video gaming, any establishment with a liquor license, plus truck stops and fraternal organizations, can install up to five machines.
Defining the types of businesses that can apply for liquor licenses might be a way around officials’ concerns about video gaming, Village Attorney Howard Teegen said.
