Robin Ventura confirmed Wednesday that he turned down a one-year contract extension from the White Sox that would have made him the manager through 2015.

Ventura called the offer "flattering" and said that there is good communication between he and general manager Rick Hahn.

"I want them to, in two years, think I'm the right guy still for the job," Ventura said.

He added that he's not holding out for anything, but that he's worried about the present team.

"I'm worried more about what we're doing right now with this team in this spring training, more than I'm worried about 2015."
