Text Size: AaAaAaAaAa

CRYSTAL LAKE – District 155 has set its fifth annual Parent University.

The event is geared toward current and future parents of District 155 students, and provides practical information to help parents guide their children through the high school years.

The free event runs from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23. Tomorrow is the registration deadline.

Licensed clinical professional counselor Lorena Gorey will be the event's keynote speaker. She will talk about the changes to the parent-child relationship during the high school years.

A former District 155 guidance counselor, Gorey will provide productive ways in which parents can be part of their child's life. She will discuss how to ask questions with out interfering, how to be supportive but not controlling, and how to be an effective cheerleader for one's child.

Participants can choose two breakout sessions with topics that include bullying, college preparation, teen sexuality, teen depression and more.

A full list of courses and information can be found on the District's website at www.d155.org, or by calling 815-455-8500
