Sauk Village man gets 75 years for strangling teen

MARKHAM, Ill. — A suburban Chicago man has been sentenced to 75 years in prison for sexually assaulting and killing a 15-year-old girl in 2008.

A Cook County judge sentenced 24-year-old Timothy Easley of Sauk Village on Wednesday. Prosecutors say Easley sexually assaulted and strangled Brashai Griffin and then left her body in a creek in a wooded area. Jurors convicted Easley last month of first-degree murder and aggravated criminal sexual assault.

Prosecutors say police and search teams looked for the honor student for nearly two days after she went missing.
