Haugens steps down as Hampshire girls coach

HAMPSHIRE – Hampshire girls basketball coach Ed Haugens, one of the area’s most successful girls or boys coaches, has resigned his position.

Haugens, who was 205-100 in 10 seasons between Jacobs and Hampshire, felt the demands of basketball were taking too much time away from his family.

Haugens took Jacobs to the IHSA Class AA State Tournament Elite Eight in 2004. In his three seasons at Hampshire, the Whip-Purs won two Class 3A regionals and one Fox Valley Conference Fox Division championship.
