CRYSTAL LAKE – Four men face multiple charges in connection with the burglary of a home and the beating of its resident.

William J. Kindall, 21, and Jonathan M. Kindall, 20, both of Woodstock, and Philip J. Dawson, 26, and Ryan M. Johnson, 22, both of Crystal Lake, were charged with battery, residential burglary, robbery, and mob action. All but the battery charge are felonies.

William Kindall also was charged with possession of marijuana, a Class 4 felony.

Crystal Lake police said that on Feb. 6 the men broke into a home in the 0 to 100 block of East Terra Cotta Avenue. They allegedly beat the resident and took items from the home. Officers were called to a report of a robbery taking place. After a foot chase, police apprehended William Kindall and Johnson. All four men were arrested by Friday. Residential burglary is a Class 1 felony; robbery is a Class 2 felony; and mob action is a Class 4 felony. Battery is a Class A misdemeanor.

All of the men were in the McHenry County Jail on Friday, held in lieu of $80,000 bond each.
