PORT BARRINGTON – The inaugural Fox River Shiver will begin at noon March 10 at Broken Oar Beach, 614 Rawson Bridge Road, Port Barrington.

Costume-clad teams will brave the icy waters of the lower Fox River to help raise money for One Small Voice Foundation to benefit Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago.

A VIP pre-party for the registered participants begins at noon at Broken Oar, followed by a parade to the beach for the 2 p.m. "plunge." An after party with live entertainment will follow.

Spectators and fans can view the fun from the Broken Oar Skydeck overlooking the Fox River or watch the fun from the beach.

The event will be hosted by THE MIX Road Crew from 101.90-FM, and there will be wakeboard demonstrations.

Local resident Patrick Gilboy joins his childhood friend Kevin Kazbeck, founder of One Small Voice Foundation, to support Lurie Children's Hospital and his mission to help fund pediatric research and improve the quality of life for children born with hydrocephalus. Both families have been affected by this disease and have sought medical treatment at Lurie Children’s Hospital. One hundred percent of the proceeds will be used to benefit the foundation.
