WASHINGTON (AP) — Sandi Jackson has pleaded guilty to filing false federal income tax returns.

The former Chicago alderman entered her plea Wednesday afternoon in Washington federal court. She pleaded hours after her husband former U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. pleaded guilty to misuse of campaign money.

Prosecutors charged Sandi Jackson with filing false joint federal income tax returns for the years 2006 through 2011. They say she knowingly understated the income the couple received.
