Musgrove: Harvard community joins together
Businesses and organizations are run and managed by many volunteers in and around our community. The Harvard Chamber of Commerce is an example of one that functions with a part-time staff and a volunteer board of directors.
As former President Bill Clinton once said, “Citizen service is the very American idea that we meet our challenges not as isolated individuals but as members of a true community, with all of us working together. Our mission is nothing less than to spark a renewed sense of obligation, a new sense of duty, a new season of service."
Sometimes, through unexpected situations, we get an opportunity to give back to those individuals. In March 1989. chamber President Kevin B. MCFarlin passed away unexpectedly after just finishing our Business Expo. Our members and board of directors were devastated by the loss and joined together to organize a scholarship fund in his name.
