CRYSTAL LAKE – A 14-year-old girl was found dead in Veteran Acres Park on Thursday morning, according to the Crystal Lake Police Department

The Crystal Lake teen was found by a passerby at 7:45 a.m. in the middle of the park near the pond area. Her name was being withheld because she is a juvenile.

The cause of death appeared to be suicide, Cmdr. Dan Dziewior said. No foul play is suspected.

The girl had been reported missing by family members Wednesday night, Dziewior said.

Members of the Crystal Lake Park District Police, with assistance from the Crystal Lake Police Department, handled the incident.

Authorities were working with Crystal Lake High School District 155 officials to provide counseling to students this week.
