To the Editor:
I am a student at Central High School in Crystal Lake. In the past few years, some other students and I have set up a Gay Straight Alliance Club under the supervision of a teacher. It is an equality club that is a safe haven for all LGBTQAI students.
The problem is that we are not allowed to advertise because School District 155 calls it a political club. Meanwhile, other clubs are able to advertise and get funds from the school. We can be in the school, but without advertisements and funds, we can’t get our word out and let people who need this support know about our club.
