WOODSTOCK – Turning Point, McHenry County’s only comprehensive domestic violence agency and shelter, will launch a series of informational evenings starting today with “You Need to Know ... About Teen Dating Violence.”
The event will be at 7 p.m. at McHenry County College, 8900 Route 14, Crystal Lake.
Turning Point children’s counselor Molly Horton will speak about the issue of domestic violence among teenagers, including dating violence and a parent’s role in spotting and stopping abusive teen relationships, and then take questions from the audience.
Horton also will discuss the “Choose Respect” program, which brings together representatives from Grace Lutheran Church, Woodstock School District 200 and Turning Point to promote healthy relationships among teens.
Teachers, students, parents and interested members of the community are invited to attend this free informational evening.
Future “You Need to Know ...” sessions will address issues such as supporting victims of domestic violence, elder abuse, cyberstalking and online harassment.
