WOODSTOCK – The deadline is approaching for nominations for the Spirit of Public Health Awards.
Now in its eighth year, the McHenry County Health Department will honor people who are committed to making their community healthy.
This yearly celebration coincides with National Public Health Week (April 1 to 7). The nomination deadline is March 22.
Past recipients of the Spirit Award have raised awareness for breast cancer, done community service for children in need, led recycling efforts at a clinic, advocated for the dangers of furniture tip-overs, helped seniors with home repairs and provided mental health/pet therapy for at-risk youth.
Nominations should be in short story format (minimum of 150 words) and may be submitted by email to firstname.lastname@example.org, by fax to 815-334-4635 or by mail to McHenry County Department of Health, Attn: Spirit Awards, 2200 N. Seminary Ave., Woodstock, IL 60098.
A flier for the Spirit Awards is posted at www.mcdh.info with photos of previous years’ recipients. Spirit Award recipients and their nominators will be invited to attend the health department’s Public Health Awards ceremony in April at the McHenry County Government Center in Woodstock.
