McHENRY – A tattoo and body piercing shop is open for business in McHenry after receiving a temporary use permit from the City Council.

“We had a walk-in tattoo and piercing [customer] and two more already scheduled for tattoos,” said Ryan Lanning, owner of Lunchbox Tattoo, on Tuesday afternoon.

Lunchbox Tattoo’s temporary permit expires May 31. The business, at 2906 Route 120 in McHenry, will have to go before the city’s Planning and Zoning Commission hearing April 25 to seek a variance to continue operating on a permanent basis.
