Community leader

To the Editor:

Mike Smith is a selfless community leader with a strong background in business and finance – exactly the kind of person needed on the McHenry County College Board of Trustees.

I have known Mike for more than 27 years, and can attest to Mike’s integrity and work ethic. He is passionate about the vital role of the community college, both in terms of the need to provide an affordable education to traditional and nontraditional students and the need to develop a skilled workforce that will bring jobs to McHenry County.

Mike has the credentials to provide careful oversight of the college budget and the business experience to lead MCC into the future. If MCC needs to expand, Mike is committed to finding private funding or bringing the decision to expand to voters through a referendum.

Please join me in voting for Smith for MCC trustee on April 9.
