Traffic backed up near Richmond after plow overturns

Traffic was backed up near Greenwood and Tryon Grove roads in unincorporated McHenry County on Thursday morning after a snow plow overturned, according to the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.

There were no injuries, police said, and the plow was not seriously damaged. 

The McHenry County Division of Transportation plow was pushing back snow drifts near Richmond when he slid down into a ditch, causing the vehicle to land on its side, said Mark DeVries, maintenance supervisor.

"it doesn't look good, but this happens every once in a while," he said. "you get too close to the ditch, the plow gets top heavy, and you end up in the ditch."

County supervisors were further investigating the incident.
