To the Editor:
There are two candidates for McHenry Township Assessor on April 9.
My opponent hides being a Democrat but touts being a former Board of Review member. The board is a three-member board that reviews appeal evidence from owner and assessor before deciding the value, similar to judge; one parcel at a time.
BOR members are very important but not responsible for planning, calculating and implementing assessments for the entire township (48 square miles; over 25,000 parcels), managing staff or having the vision to plan the framework of a critical data network.
That’s the assessor’s job, requiring more skills and experience than assessment certification. My certified staff are deputies but aren’t responsible as the department head. I’m an advanced designation, award winning assessor that has those skills, visit www.perschke4assessor.com.
After four consecutive years of assessment reductions, change for the sake of change? Keep experience and accomplishments; keep Carol Perschke, Republican.
