Huntley business owner secures grant for Leggee Elementary

Leggee Elementary's math and science program received a boost this week, after the ExxonMobil Educational Alliance program awarded the District 158 school a $500 grant.

The grant was one of 2,400 available to schools from across the country that are served by Exxon or Mobil stations. James Drendel, owner of the Drendel's Corner Mobil, 13280 Rte. 47, Huntley, worked with school officials to secure the grant.

Drendel had to meet stringent eligibility criteria before applying for the grant, including having to commit to provide a superior buying experience for customers. Drendel presented the $500 grant to Legee Principal Scott Iddings earlier this week.

The Exxon Mobil Educational Alliance program was created to motivate Exxon and Mobil retailers to invest into the education systems of their communities.
