Attendance down at South Side Irish Parade
CHICAGO – Organizers say attendance was down slightly from years past at Chicago's longtime South Side Irish Parade and rainy weather was to blame.
Roughly 150,000 people were on the city's Far South Side Sunday for the parade and activities surrounding it. That's according to police and organizers. Earlier in the day parade organizers estimated that the isolated number of those just watching the parade was about 30,000 people.
Both numbers are slightly down from previous years before complaints prompted a scaled back event.
