McHENRY – The St. Baldrick’s fundraising community has already reached a milestone days before the annual fundraising event gets under way.

“I am so proud to tell you that our community has reached the goal of being [No.] 1 in the world for the number of people shaving their heads at a single event for St. Baldrick’s Day,” McHenry Mayor Sue Low said in a message Monday night.

As of Monday night, there were 671 participants registered to have their heads shaved for charity. In addition, the organizers surpassed their fundraising goal of $100,000 for the foundation with $110,666 as of late Monday.
