Disappointed in coverage

To the Editor:

Having been on the McHenry City Council for almost 10 years, I have attended every state of the city address during that time.

Each and every one of those addresses were not only given by Mayor Sue Low, but were identical in their nature of bringing up the past year’s accomplishments and addressing future projects.

This year, like all the previous addresses, was poignant as to reflect factual progress of the city. I take great offense to the Northwest Herald’s description of this year’s address as campaigning.

Having read articles about other state of the city addresses, I do not recall any others described as campaign forums for their mayors. I have to conclude that the reporter merely wanted to sensationalize her article about McHenry.

I always look forward to hearing all the work that has taken place in our community, concisely presented. I resent having this information being presented as being political. I do not believe anyone who has been attending these Chamber of Commerce luncheons over the years, including this year, left the address thinking it was anything other than an update on current success.
