Toxicology reports awaited in LITH teen's death

CRYSTAL LAKE – An autopsy of a Lake in the Hills teen found dead on Sunday revealed no anatomic cause of death, according to the McHenry County Coroner’s Office.

Toxicology results are still pending in the death of 17-year-old Stephanie R. Chiakas, whose body was found by a friend in a Crystal Lake home.

Court records show that Chiakas had pending drug charges against her after police said she had a substance containing heroin.

Chiakas was a junior at Crystal Lake South High School. Support services were being offered this week to students at the school.

The visitation for Chiakas will be from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday.

Chiakas is survived by her parents, Kenneth and Sheri, and her sister, Alicia.
