Deadline approaches for Miss Woodstock pageant

WOODSTOCK – The Woodstock Chamber of Commerce and Industry is accepting applications for the 2013 Miss Woodstock Scholarship Pageant, now in its 65th year.

All applications must be mailed or delivered to the Woodstock Chamber of Commerce and Industry by March 28.

Applications are available online at www.woodstockilchamber.com or by visiting the Woodstock Chamber of Commerce and Industry, 136 Cass St.

The winner of the pageant will receive a $2,000 scholarship.

If Miss Woodstock 2013 chooses not to pursue continuing education, a $2,000 savings bond will be awarded.

The first runner-up will receive a $1,000 savings bond, and the second runner-up will receive a $500 savings bond. There also will be prizes for Miss Congeniality and Miss Photogenic and a talent scholarship.

All pageant contestants receive a pageant T-shirt, sponsor banner and gift package. There is a $50 application fee; contestants must live within the boundaries of Woodstock District 200 and be between the ages of 17 and 21. 

The pageant will be May 31 at the Woodstock Opera House.
