Two candidates are vying to be the president of the unique village of Barrington Hills, which straddles four counties.

Incumbent Robert Abboud, 56, who is president and CEO of RGA Labs, is being challenged for the post by newcomer Martin McLaughlin, 48, who owns and operates an investment advisory firm.

Both tout the importance of keeping the village’s 5-acre zoning ordinance and equestrian traditions intact in order to preserve Barrington Hills’ heritage. Both have dedicated their time to various community and civic organizations and, obviously, care about the future of the village.
