Worth noting: Czeslawski said she has an eager group competing for starting spots and that Nelson has worked hard in the offseason to prepare for his senior season.

Grayslake North

Coach: Jill Tomasello (eighth season)

Worth noting: The Knights are very young but have 40 out for the team, a school record, and are looking to build for the future.

Grayslake Central

Coach: Chuck Lawson (sixth season)

Worth noting: With nine returning players with varsity experience, Lawson said he is looking for a good year for his team.

Hampshire

Coach: Jon Betts (fifth season)

Worth noting: Betts said he will need contributions from all parts of his lineup if they wish to achieve their goal of remaining competitive in the Fox Valley Conference.

Johnsburg

Worth noting: The Skyhawks have strong numbers with 19 on varsity led by Wells who won 25 matches last year at No. 2 singles.

Woodstock

Worth noting: The Blue Streaks return 10 varsity players with an additional three who saw some varsity action. Justice said her team has “experience, good camaraderie, and the will to be successful.”

Woodstock North

Coach: Mike Buehler (third season)

Worth noting: The Thunder have 13 players out this season and all of their newcomers are beginners. Rousonelos is the most experienced with two years of varsity experience.

Valley Division

Cary-Grove

Coach: Amanda Schuetzle (third season)

Last year: Sixth at FVC Meet

Key returning players: Owen Russell, sr.; Chris Rozolis, sr.; Kevin Maas, jr.

Top new players: Evan Jensen, so.

Worth noting: The Trojans lost just three starters to graduation and will focus on strengthening their doubles teams. Russell (22-11 last year) returns at No. 1 singles along with Rozolis at No. 1 doubles and Maas who was, 22-7, at No. 3 singles last year.

Crystal Lake South

Coach: Don Nead (46th season)

Last year: Third at FVC Meet

Key returning players: Brandon Jarva, sr.; Austin Kill, sr.; Andy Koltun, sr.; Josh Ramos, sr.; Kyle Devlin, jr.

Worth noting: Nead is looking to fill in his lineup after losing several key players to graduation. With more than 50 out for the team, the competition for spots should be fierce.

Dundee-Crown

Coach: Harlan Miller (21st season)

Last year: Tied for 12th at FVC Meet

Worth noting: Spangenberg leads the Chargers after qualifying for state last year in doubles.

Huntley

Worth noting: The Red Raiders look to have good depth in doubles and are confident Smith can make the move to No. 1 singles after playing No. 2 last year.

Jacobs

Coach: Jim Benson (third season)

Worth noting: With a solid senior lineup and an infusion of strong freshmen talent, the Golden Eagles could be the team to beat this year. Panchapakesan will play No. 1 singles.

McHenry

Coach: Kyle Funkhouser (Eighth season)

Worth noting: The Warriors will look to find replacements at No. 1 singles and a new partner for Quitalig at No. 1 doubles. Jake Romme and Quitalig qualified for state last year in doubles.

Prairie Ridge

Worth noting: The Wolves should have a very deep lineup led by Kohl and Heydari who both have state experience.

Suburban Christian Conference

Worth noting: Aaron Waters will play No. 1 singles on an inexperienced squad where only half of the lineup has any varsity experience.
