CRYSTAL LAKE – Centegra Health System will host two free wellness lectures in April.

Community members are welcome to hear doctors speak about kidney conditions and colon health.

A normal kidney has many jobs including filtering blood, regulating minerals within the blood and producing hormones. If the kidney stops doing its job, one can be left with multiple health problems. Dr. Amit Arora, an independent nephrologist on the medical staff at Centegra Health System, will discuss the causes and symptoms associated with certain kidney conditions and the treatment options available. “Are Your Kidneys Wasting Time” will be from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. April 2 at Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center – Huntley, 10450 Algonquin Road.

Some colon problems can be improved through diet and exercise. However, when small growths, known as polyps, develop, there is a chance for cancerous cells to develop over time. Dr. Alexandra Roginsky, an independent surgeon on the medical staff of Centegra Health System, will discuss how to keep a colon healthy, signs and symptoms of an unhealthy colon and available screenings for colon cancer.

Roginsky also will discuss how she uses the da Vinci robot to treat colon conditions such as cancer, diverticulitis and inflammatory bowel disease.

“The Winding Road to Colon Health” will be from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. April 9 at Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center – Crystal Lake, 200 Congress Parkway.

Space is limited. To register for either talk, call 877-236-8347.
