Marengo boys basketball coach Dave Pettit will not be back for a fourth season with the Indians.

Pettit, who taught marketing and accounting this year at Marengo, said the District 154 school board removed his name from the list of teachers to be rehired for the 2013-14 school year. Marengo principal Scott Shepard said when that happened it was assumed Pettit would not be back as basketball coach.

Shepard placed an advertisement on the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association website for the position. Pettit’s teams were 25-61 in his three seasons with the Indians.
