Reject Keystone pipeline
To the Editor:
Every American should call the president at 202-456-1111 and ask that he reject the Keystone XL pipeline once and for all.
Our planet is a gift to us. Like spoiled children, we are trashing that gift. Allowing the Keystone XL to be built would be the environmental equivalent to stepping on a land field of Legos. As the full weight of our bodies step upon that sharp Lego left on the floor and the pain elicits a stream of muffled profanity, we would have no one to blame but ourselves unless we contact President Obama at 202-456-1111 and tell him to reject Keystone XL.
NASA’s leading climate scientist, Dr. James Hansen, said that tar sands development would push us over the edge of the climate change cliff. There’s no climbing back over the precipice. The production of tar sands oil creates three times more global warming polution than conventional crude oil.
I want my children to be able to breathe fresh air, drink clean water, and eat food grown in clean soil. I want to raise my children to be patriotic and proud of our country, our president and our elected officials. I want them to know that I did everything I could to protect them.
It’s up to us, contact President Obama at 202-456-1111 and tell him to honor his commitment to serve as a leader and reject Keystone XL.
