Cancer benefit run planned in Huntley
HUNTLEY – A high-spirited running event will come to Huntley with the inaugural Cancer Kiss My Cooley benefit race May 12 at Betsey Warrington Park.
Created in memory of Huntley resident Carter Kettner, Cancer Kiss My Cooley is a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising community awareness of pediatric brain tumors. This charitable organization and its activities strive to raise money that directly benefits local families living with this life-threatening condition.
The traditional 5K race is a professionally organized event that follows a sanctioned and hard-paved course (with electronic timing), in addition to a 2K Superhero Dash for kids 13 and younger.
Other activities include face painting for children, vendor booths, food and music, plenty of raffle prizes and awards given for the top three finishing positions in each age group.
Creative costumes are encouraged and welcome with an award given for best costume.
