Crews prepare Charles Miller Road for construction season

McHENRY – As crews prepare to resume widening Charles J. Miller Road, traffic control changes are being made, including decreased speed limits and shifting lanes.

McHenry County Division of Transportation officials warn drivers to expect delays and recommend they consider alternative routes as construction ramps up.

Officials expect this phase of the two-part project to be completed by Oct. 15. Work began in November.

This phase of the project includes widening the two-lane road to four lanes from near the entrance to the South Wastewater Treatment Plant to River Road. A new two-lane bridge will be constructed over the Fox River to supplement the existing two-lane bridge.

It is expected to cost $12 million, according to the project's website.
