Fundraiser for Spring Grove resident's double-lung transplant

Published: Friday, April 19, 2013 5:30 a.m. CDT

SPRING GROVE – In an effort to raise money to cover the costs of a Spring Grove resident’s double-lung transplant, a benefit is planned for May 5.

Lucas Spence, a 2011 graduate of Richmond-Burton High School, along with his twin brother, Jacob, was born with cystic fibrosis, a genetic condition that causes mucus to build in the lungs, making breathing difficult and sometimes nearly impossible.

The benefit will run from noon to 8 p.m. May 5 at Shores of Turtle Creek, 7908 Winn Road, Spring Grove. There will be a silent auction, raffles, live bands, food and a cash bar.

To buy an advance ticket for $10, contact lungsforlucas@gmail.com. Tickets will be $12 at the door.

To donate an item for the auction, contact 815-216-0446.

The Spence family has registered with the Children’s Organ Transplant Association.
