No one injured in McHenry fire

McHENRY – No one was injured in a McHenry apartment fire Wednesday night, according to the McHenry Township Fire Protection District.

Crews were called to a three-story apartment building in the 3700 block of West James Street around 9 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a structure fire, according to a news release.

Firefighters arrived to find smoke coming from the building.

With assistance from members of the McHenry Police Department, all residents of the building were safely evacuated.

Firefighters then extinguished a fire found inside the floor joist and wall of a first-floor hallway, and ventilated the smoke.

Damage, which was limited to the hallway, was estimated at $4,000, the release states.

The fire, believed to be accidental, is still being investigated.
