WOODSTOCK – A woman was airlifted after her vehicle struck a tree Sunday on Collins Road.

The unnamed woman was in fair condition, but because of heavy damage to the SUV she was driving, she was flown to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. She had to be extricated from the vehicle.

The crash happened about 1 p.m. on Collins near Vermont and Hobe roads, said Captain Brendan Parker with the Woodstock Fire Rescue Department. The woman was driving eastbound on Collins Road when her vehicle left the roadway and struck the tree.

It was unknown whether she was wearing a seat belt or if airbags were deployed.

Collins Road was closed for about two hours while crews were on the scene. McHenry County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident.
