Chicago woman found dead in high-rise trash chute
CHICAGO — An 80-year-old Chicago woman who had gone missing for two days was found dead at the bottom of a trash chute in a downtown high-rise building.
The Cook County medical examiner pronounced Florence Banta dead at the scene on Monday. She was missing since Saturday. She was found in the same building where a 17-year-old boy with autism and Down syndrome was found dead in the trash chute last year.
A building engineer found the woman's body. The medical examiner says police are investigating if Banta accidentally fell down the chute. She lived on the 17th floor.
