Cambridge Lakes to host fine arts event

PINGREE GROVE – Fine Arts Week at Cambridge Lakes Learning Center begins with the 2013 Fine Arts Festival from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday.

Cambridge Lakes Learning Center is located at 900 Wester Blvd., Pingree Grove.

Along with beautiful art and great entertainment, attendees will find food and do-it-yourself art activities.

A silent auction featuring works of displaying artists and area businesses also is planned.

Tickets for the event are $5 for adults, $3 for students and free for children 4 and younger.

The festival will feature original painting, photography, glass fusion, ceramics, handmade books, oil lamps, cards, lawn and plant ornaments and more from many Chicago-area professional artists.

Attendees also can create their own art and music at the festival’s family-friendly art studios. Studios will include comic book art, mixed media experimental art, henna designs, world drum making, rainstick construction, print making, origami paper designs and a Mommy & Me music room for little ones.

A full afternoon of live music entertainment includes performances from new and upcoming pop stars Emily Henderson and Jamaal Miller; Yukiko Fujimura, artist in residence, on the grand piano; Children’s Theatre of Elgin; the Collage vocalists; Coyote Chorale; and Cambridge Studio’s Solo and Ensemble performers and dancers.

An evening concert featuring Anima, an internationally renowned youth choral group from the greater Chicago area, will thrill audiences from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Tickets for the evening concert will be sold separately in advance and at the festival.
