An SUV crashed into a home at 1417 Tanglewood Dr. in Crystal Lake Thursday, April 4, 2013. The vehicle's driver was transported to the hospital.

CRYSTAL LAKE – A Crystal Lake woman remains in critical condition Friday morning after driving through a garage door Thursday, according to hospital officials.

Lori Ruzbasan, 49, lost control of the 2001 Mercedes Benz minivan she was driving at 9:25 a.m. The vehicle crashed into and partially out the back wall of a garage at 1417 Tanglewood Drive, Crystal Lake, according to a release from the Crystal Lake Police Department.

Police suspect the driver "may have experienced a medical condition," that led to the accident, according to the release. They don't suspect alcohol or drugs were a factor.

Ruzbasan, the only person in the vehicle, was transported by fire rescue personnel to an area hospital.

She was in critical condition at Centegra Hospital - Woodstock Thursday evening, Centegra Senior Public Relations Coordinator Michelle Green said.

The homeowner was inside the house when the accident occurred. She did not wish to be identified, but told the Northwest Herald she heard a "horrible noise," and found the driver unresponsive.

Representatives from the Crystal Lake Building Department later inspected the house and declared it livable.
