MCC incumbents must go

To the Editor:

Over the past eight years, I’ve authored many good governance policies and resolutions that were unanimously approved by the Cary District 26 School Board.

In recent months, I’ve learned that the shenanigans, chicanery and buffoonery that pervade our K-12 school system extend to Illinois’ community colleges.

McHenry County College is proposing to spend $42 million on new construction. $50,000 taxpayer dollars were blown for a “study” by a “consultant” with a blatant conflict of interest. The plan nearly doubles classroom and lab space, which is currently less than 50 percent utilized.

The two main funding sources proposed are bonds paid by taxpayers without their vote, and a student fee, i.e. 8 percent tuition hike.

Longtime incumbents and other MCC/education industry insiders need to go. On April 9 please vote for Chris Jenner and Tom Wilbeck for MCC trustee.

For District 26 school board, I recommend Myers, Jette, Howell and Christensen.
