Memorial begins for slain DA, wife

MESQUITE, Texas (AP) — The memorial has started for a slain Texas prosecutor and his wife.

A pianist played Thursday behind a flag-draped casket as the memorial began for Kaufman County District Attorney Mike McLelland and his wife, Cynthia. Nearby sat photos of the couple along with a folded flag.

Gov. Rick Perry and law enforcement officers from as far away as Great Britain were expected to attend the service in the North Texas town of Mesquite. Officials with The Honor Network say an overflow crowd is expected Thursday.

Both were found shot to death Saturday in their house near Forney, about 20 miles east of Dallas. No arrests have been made.
