CHICAGO – The White Sox have an opportunity to start the season 3-0 for the first time since 1992.

Gavin Floyd takes the mound and will be in charge of putting the Sox in position to sweep the Royals for the first time since July 2010. Floyd is 4-1 with a 2.25 ERA in his last six starts against Kansas City.

Tyler Flowers has started his tenure as the Sox's starting catcher better than some people may have expected. He joined Sherm Lollar (1958) as the only two catchers to hit a home run in each of the first two games of the season.

The Sox also added depth in the minor leagues after agreeing to terms on minor-league contracts with right-handed pitcher Jason Berken and infielder Tyler Greene.

Right-hander Jeremy Guthrie starts today for the Royals. Guthrie went 1-0 with a 0.30 ERA in four starts against the Sox last season.
