Quintana looking to replicate last year's success

CHICAGO – Left-hander Jose Quintana is hoping to avoid a sophomore slump.

Coming off a rookie season when he went 6-6 with a 3.76 ERA, Quintana makes his first start of the season tonight against the Mariners. The Sox have won 24 of 28 games against Seattle since 2010 including 11 of their last 12.

The Sox need to improve with runners on base. Entering the game, the Sox are 1 for 14 with runners in scoring position. Tyler Flowers hasn't had any issues getting on base. He's reached safely in seven of his 10 plate appearances.

The Sox's 1.00 ERA led the American League and ranked second in the majors before today's games. The bullpen hasn't allowed a run in 7 1/3 innings pitched.
