Chicago's popular Shamrock Shuffle rerouted

CHICAGO (AP) — Police say the more than 40,000-participant Shamrock Shuffle race in downtown Chicago had to be rerouted because a man was threatening to jump from a bridge into the Chicago River.

Chicago police said they were called early Sunday, before the race started, to the State Street bridge over the Chicago River. Police found a man threatening to jump. Police say the man was safely removed from the bridge and taken to a nearby hospital.

Authorities say the popular race was rerouted to avoid the bridge.
