Cubs welcome Brewers to Wrigley for home opener

CHICAGO – The Cubs begin the 100th season of baseball at Wrigley Field with their home opener today against the Brewers.

In their last 97 home openers at Wrigley, the Cubs are 52-44-1. Edwin Jackson (0-1, 3.60 ERA) makes his start at Wrigley in a Cubs uniform.

Manager Dale Sveum said before the game Carlos Marmol, who was demoted from the closer role, will pitch in the middle innings, typically when the Cubs are losing. Sveum added that Marmol needs to regain command of his pitches and re-learn to trust his slider, his "bread and butter" pitch.
