HAMPSHIRE – Three people involved in accidents Tuesday along Interstate 90, near Harmony Road, are being treated for injuries at area hospitals, Hampshire fire officials said in a news release.
The Hampshire Fire Protection District responded at 11:37 a.m. to a crash involving three semitrailers and a utility truck along Interstate 90, just west of Harmony Road, Deputy Chief Trevor Herrmann said in the release.
Firefighters spent 48 minutes freeing one person from a vehicle. The person was sent to OSF Saint Anthony Hospital in Rockford with serious injuries, Herrmann said. Three other people were treated at the scene.
Within minutes of the first incident, another crash involving a semitrailer and two cars occurred.
Two people were taken to Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin with injuries that were not life-threatening.
A third person was treated at the scene, Herrmann said.
Officials did not release the identities of the victims Tuesday.
Fire departments from Huntley, Pingree Grove, Burlington and Boone County assisted with the crashes.
