Wood, Cubs trying to snap four-game losing streak

CHICAGO – The Cubs, riding a four-game losing streak, need a strong effort from starting pitcher Travis Wood tonight against Milwaukee.

Wood (1-0) is looking for his first win in nine starts at Wrigley Field. He's 0-5 with a 5.26 ERA in those outings, though the the offense hasn't give him much support. In six of those starts, the Cubs scored two runs or less. He pitched win in his first start of the season, however, throwing six shutout innings against Pittsburgh.

Tonight marks the Cubs' first night game of the season. Since the Cubs began playing night games in 1988 at Wrigley Field, they are .500 (254-254).

After posting a 47-31 (.603) record against Milwaukee from July 7, 2006-June 16, 2011, the Cubs are 6-21 (.222) in their last 27 games against the Brewers. That includes losing nine of their last 10 games versus the National League Central rival, dating to June 6 last season.

Right-hander Wily Peralta (0-1, 6.75) starts for the Brewers.
