ALGONQUIN –The Village Board is set to remain the same after Tuesday's election, according to unofficial results from McHenry and Kane counties.
Trustees Brian Dianis, with 745 votes, Robert Smith, 791 votes, and Jerry Glogowski 792 votes, were re-elected.
Challenger Richard Flynn had 548 votes.
Smith, who has been a trustee for the past 20 years, said during the campaign that he wants to work with the police department to reduce fines for right-turn-on-red violations, among other things.
Glogowski said his top priorities were working with the staff to make sure there was a smooth transition between retiring Village Manager Bill Ganek and new Village Manager Tim Schloneger, moving toward Randall Road and Longmeadow Parkway improvements, and finding the best vision for downtown redevelopment plans.
Dianis said he wants to promote economic development by marketing the corporate campus, and defining a clear vision for attracting and retaining businesses.
Flynn, who lives in the Indian Grove subdivision, got into the election after working with the village on a road reconstruction plan for the subdivision.
